Set sail on a weeklong island adventure in an immersive story you help bring to life. Listen to an original tale about a pair of plucky monkeys seeking a magical, island-saving stone. Along the way, create imaginative illustrations of story elements and construct three-dimensional inventions to help your heroes on their hunt.
Start by making your own book to record the week’s journey. BE VISIONARY as you imagine different settings, characters and clues in the story—a sky-high house, a talking tree, a jewel-filled treasure chest—and learn simple drawing skills to illustrate them. Practice paper printing, cutting and folding techniques to build a scepter to mount the magical stone, plus a parachute and submarine to help your heroes fly high and dive deep. BE REFLECTIVE as you build, considering what’s working best in your designs as you endeavor to keep the monkeys safe on their journey. Conclude the week’s hunt with an illuminating discovery, a book of original illustrations and a collection of incredible inventions.
NOTE: This weeklong class is more than just innovation-igniting projects—it’s an immersive experience full of delightful details, including interactive games, silly traditions, snacks (see Additional Prep, below) and dress-up days designed to build community, bolster confidence and deliver loads of camp-away-from-camp fun.
