What You'll Do

Send your own aerodynamic inventions up, up and away in this high-flying weeklong class. Elevate your engineering skills as you design and construct an incredible collection of machines that can fly, float, spin, soar and more.

Gear up for airborne adventure, using paper and straws to create a moon-bound rocket and a pair of distinctively designed hoop zoomers. BE REFLECTIVE to test and fine-tune your inventions, determining which fin and hoop shapes deliver the fastest, smoothest flights. BE DETERMINED as you master the basics of resistance and symmetry and launch a rubber band-powered glider that soars far and straight. Craft a looped-paper snake designed to spin through the air, then decorate it with inventively scaly patterns. Come back down to earth with a soft-falling tissue-paper parachute that can gently lower a load of coins to the ground.
