BE COURAGEOUS in embracing the unique challenges of concrete construction. Practice the basics of measuring, cutting and assembling a mold out of cardboard, plus mixing and pouring concrete with minimal mess, as you build a sleek and shapely planter. Dream up a fountain that inspires quiet contemplation, then BE VISIONARY as you design more inventively shaped molds for its one-of-a-kind design. Learn how to embed tubing and install the pump that will circulate water throughout your concrete creation. Assemble your fountain’s final elements and explore different painting techniques to give it a pop of color. Share your peaceful piece of art with your fellow concrete creators.
Note: This weeklong class is more than just innovation-igniting projects—it’s an immersive experience full of delightful details, including interactive games, silly traditions, snacks (see Materials, below) and more! designed to build community, bolster confidence and deliver loads of camp-away-from-camp fun.
While we offer a similar class for older kids, the pacing and content of this class is carefully calibrated for 4th – 5th graders.
