Summer Camp Selection Checklist

Summer Camp Selection Checklist

Whether you’re looking for a traditional in-person summer program, an at-home option for your kids or the families in your social bubble, or an online option that’s above your average video call, there’s bound to be an option to fit your family’s needs. This summer camp checklist can help cut through the clutter.

When considering all your options, it’s important to select a camp that provides opportunities for your kids to learn and develop new skills and participate in fun activities that will supplement their education—all while having a blast.

Use this simple list when considering summer camp options this year for your child. We hope these questions give you a starting point for evaluating your kids’ options this summer.

Camp Selection Checklist

⬜ If meeting in-person, does the program have sufficient health and safety measures in place?

⬜ Does the camp provide customized activities specific to each age group, or do all kids participate in the same activities regardless of age group?

⬜ Are kids offered enough variety in their daily schedule to help ensure they stay interested and engaged throughout the week, or do the camp’s activities feel repetitive every day?

⬜ Is the camper-to-staff ratio more than 12:1?

⬜ Does the camp have experienced staff with high retention rates, or are the instructors new and fairly inexperienced every year?

⬜ Are the instructors CPR and first aid certified?
