Welcome to Summer 2026!

At Camp Galileo, campers explore and create with confidence and joy.

While the guidelines below keep things running smoothly, they’re also the secret ingredients that let every camper dive fully and freely into hands-on projects, epic games and satisfying teamwork. When everyone knows what to expect, we can focus on what we do best: making this summer the best one yet!

Week Before Camp

Prepare for a Smooth (and Super Fun) Week at Camp Galileo!

A little prep goes a long way toward making your camper’s week exciting and worry-free.

Please follow these steps to get set for a stellar start:

Review Your Details: Log in to your account and double-check your registration details, especially the mandatory Health History section for each of your campers. Please complete this required information prior to camp, so you don’t slow down check-in.
Review Emergency & Authorized Contacts: Make sure all the right grown-ups are listed as emergency contacts and authorized for pick-up. Please remind everyone on your authorized pick-up list to bring their photo ID when picking up your camper.
Review your schedule and sign up for Extended Care: Need a little extra time before or after camp? Log in to your Galileo account to sign up for Extended Care, so your camper can keep the fun going (and you can keep your day running smoothly). We offer Extended Care from 8-9am and 3-6pm.

With these quick steps, you’ll help set the stage for a week full of curiosity, creativity and Galileo magic!

Camp Logistics

Checking In and Checking Out

We’re so excited to kick off the week with you!

Monday Check-In: 8:30–9:00am

Try to arrive as close to 8:30am as possible, for a smooth start to the week.
Parents/guardians MUST accompany their campers on Monday at check-in, so we can verify health history forms and authorized pick-up lists.
The camp fun officially begins at 9:00am sharp!

Tuesday–Friday Check-In: 8:45–9:00am

Drop off your camper anytime between 8:45–9:00am.
If you arrive early, please wait with your camper until we’re ready to welcome everyone in.
Most camps offer curbside drop-off on Tuesdays through Fridays. Please check the Camp Specific Details section below for more details.

Daily Check-Out: 3:00pm

Camp wraps up at 3:00pm each day, with a fun-filled closing ceremony. Unless you have pre-scheduled an early dismissal of your camper with your Camp Director, we do not release campers early.
For safety reasons, only adults on your camper’s authorized pick-up list (with a photo ID) can pick-up your camper.
Authorized Pick-Ups (including parents) must show a photo ID every day at check out.
After 3:30pm, we charge a late pick-up fee of $1 per minute, and campers will wait for you in our Extended Care area.

Camp Specific Details

Check-In:

Monday: Park in the parking lot off of Laurie ave and walk your camper(s) to the Check-In tables.
Tuesday-Friday: Please use our curbside drop-off in our parking lot on Laurie ave. Staff will greet you at your car.

Check-Out: Park and follow signs and/or staff to the Check-Out area. Bring photo ID for check-out.

Camp Parking

Parking will be available at the parking lot located on 750 Laurie Ave. in front of the school.

Extended Care (AM: 8:00–9:00am | PM: 3:00–6:00pm)

If your camper is enrolled in Extended Care, you can check in as early as 8:00am for AM Extended Care and pick up as late as 6:00pm for PM Extended Care.
PM Extended Care pick-up is anytime between 3:30–6:00pm.
Please note that there’s a $1 per minute late fee after 6:00pm (and after 3:30pm for regular camp).

Changes to Authorized Pick-Up List

Please make any updates or additions to your Authorized Pick-Up list in your account by 9:00am the Friday before your camp week.
Changes after that? Make your updates online AND notify camp staff at check-in. You can also email your camp to let them know.

Running Late or Picking Up Early?

No problem! Give your Camp Director a quick call or email (contact info is in the Camp Information section) so we can make sure your camper is ready.

Wednesday Before Camp: Still need to finish up health forms? We’ll send a friendly nudge, so you’re all set for a safe and spectacular start. You can also log in to your Galileo account and complete them before the first day of camp so that check-in is a breeze.

During Your Camp Week

Wednesday: Midweek, we’ll share a peek into your camper’s journey so far, plus a few fun questions to help spark big conversations about all the new things they’re exploring.

Special Items

On Water Day, campers should bring a towel and wear a swimsuit (under their clothes) and closed-toed water shoes. Please note that our two San Francisco locations do not offer Water Day, due to often chilly weather.
Note: Campers who depart at 3pm do not change out of their swimsuits before pick-up.
EpiPen, if needed, labeled with the camper’s name. EpiPens will stay with campers throughout the day.
Ice packs for perishable food. Food may be outside for periods of time, and we don’t provide refrigeration at camp.

Cell Phones at Camp

Phones must stay off and in backpacks all day, including during Extended Care.

Camp Policies

Illness & Absences

At Camp Galileo, we follow all local Public Health Department guidelines. If your camper is showing signs of illness, please keep them home and let your Camp Director know of the absence.

Behavior Policy

The following policies help everyone feel safe and included, so campers can focus on learning and having fun:

Campers are expected to participate safely and respectfully.
Campers requiring 1:1 supervision, disrupting camp or threatening safety may be asked to leave.
Behaviors meriting expulsion include violence, threats, dangerous behavior, possession of weapons/substances, robbery, property damage, harassment, hazing or intimidation.
We do not issue refunds for campers asked to leave.

4th-8th Graders: Safe Materials Usage

Supernova (4th–5th graders) and Meteor (6th–8th graders) campers get to take their projects to the next level, using advanced materials to build big, bold creations. As safety is our top priority, we review responsible tool use at camp and encourage families to talk about these guidelines at home.

Glue Gun Safety:

Hold the glue gun carefully and never touch the metal part or hot glue.
Dispense only small amounts of glue at a time (small dots work best!).
Always return the glue gun to its designated space after use.
Wait 10 seconds before touching glued items.

Meteors ONLY Additional Tools:

Camp Galileo 6th–8th graders use additional tools, including tape measures, screwdrivers, clamps, drills and hand saws.
Always use tools as intended and respect your fellow innovators.

Phone Usage Policy:

At Camp Galileo, we believe that the magic of summer camp lies in real-world connection, creativity and hands-on learning. When you go through the Fun Machine, you enter a screen-free world, where campers and staff are fully present with one another—building friendships, exploring hands-on projects and immersing themselves in joyful learning and fun.

Our Screen-Free Experience Policy applies to all campers and staff and is grounded in our commitment to providing an engaging environment that can truly only exist at camp!

Campers are not permitted to use phones or personal digital devices at any time, including during extended care hours, unless they need to communicate with family and have been given permission to do so.

What ages can go to this summer camp?

Camp Galileo North San Jose/Santa Clara is designed for kids between 5–16 years old, or those entering K–10th grades in the fall. Campers are grouped by grade—rising K–1st (Nebulas), rising 2nd–3rd (Stars), rising 4th–5th (Supernovas), rising 6th–8th (Meteors) and rising 8th–10th (CITs)—with activities tailored to their age.
What kinds of activities will campers do at this location?

Rising K–5th graders visit three exciting destinations each day: Innovator’s Studio to create individual STEAM projects, Idea Lab to collaborate on fun design challenges and Outdoor Adventure for team games and classic summer fun. Rising 6th–8th graders spend their days diving into one epic weeklong project. CITs learn to lead by mentoring younger campers and making magic behind the scenes. Every Camp Galileo North San Jose/Santa Clara camper also participates in all-camp games, ceremonies, skits and songs.
Can my camper attend multiple weeks?

Absolutely! At Camp Galileo North San Jose/Santa Clara, we offer six unique weeks of curriculum for rising K–5th graders and three unique weeks for 6th–8th graders, so every session is a new adventure. CITs can also return for additional leadership practice and a deeper behind-the-scenes camp experience. We find that the more weeks kids attend, the more hands-on skills, creative confidence and resilience they build. We even offer discounts for attending multiple weeks at Camp Galileo North San Jose/Santa Clara: $25 off every week after your first, plus $100 off any six-week purchase.
What are the hours of camp?

The regular camp day runs from 8am–3pm with optional extended care from 8–9am and 3–6pm, all onsite at Montague Elementary - Santa Clara.
Is there pre-camp and after-camp care available?

Yes! We offer morning extended care from 8–9am and afternoon extended care until 6pm (pick up any time between 3–6pm), all onsite at Montague Elementary - Santa Clara.
What if my preferred location is TBD?

“TBD” means we plan to host camp in or around North San Jose/Santa Clara but are still finalizing our site. Once we confirm the exact location, we’ll update the website and notify enrolled families and families subscribed to our email list.
What does a typical day at camp look like?

Kids at Camp Galileo North San Jose/Santa Clara start each morning with a run through the fun machine and an all-camp opening ceremony onsite at Montague Elementary - Santa Clara. The rest of the day is divided into three parts, where campers create awesome STEAM projects, collaborate on exciting design challenges and get outside for games and summer fun. In between, there’s snacktime, lunch, and plenty of memorable camp traditions.
Are snacks or lunch provided?

No. Please send your camper to Montague Elementary - Santa Clara with a nut-free snack and lunch and a refillable water bottle.
How does Galileo support campers with food allergies or dietary needs?

Camp Galileo North San Jose/Santa Clara is a nut-free camp. We don’t allow food sharing and train our staff to recognize allergic reactions and administer EpiPens if needed. We’ll collect your child’s allergy details during enrollment and review them before camp. We also encourage you to contact your camp director to discuss any specific allergy concerns.
