What You'll Do

Craft a paper firework that really pops! Learn about radial symmetry as you embellish a sheet of paper with decorative lines, then BE DETERMINED to mirror your design on a second sheet. Learn the art of accordion folding as you transform your beautifully balanced drawings into a folded firework that “explodes” open, snaps shut and tucks away in a custom case. Celebrate by sharing your creation in a festive fireworks display.

What You'll Need

Materials
  • 2 sheets of standard-size white paper
  • 1 paper towel or toilet paper tube (paper towel tube preferred)
  • 1 set of disposable wooden chopsticks, broken apart (or set of other flat, rigid thin objects longer than 4″, e.g., 2 popsicle sticks or 2 thin strips of cardboard cut from a box)
  • 1 glue stick (not liquid glue)
  • Pencil
Technology
  • Computer or tablet with speaker and camera
  • Internet access
  • Zoom application installed
    • Signed in with your child’s name
    • Unmuted (the instructor will manage class muting/unmuting)
